I concur with the sentiment in the tweet that such attire could attract undesirable attention.

Most individuals are unfamiliar with Bitcoin and its associated jargon. Wearing this clothing will likely go unnoticed by the majority, diminishing the effect you intend to make.

However, those who recognize the symbol could pose a potential risk.

Sporting a shirt that showcases your ownership of a Bitcoin, valued at around $100,000 at present, could potentially make you a target.

Last November, the CEO of WonderFi in Canada was kidnapped for ransom. More recently, a Pakistani crypto trader was kidnapped and forced to hand over $340,000 from his Binance account.

I don’t intend to frighten anyone, but these events are real, and precautions should be taken.

These criminals may not fully understand how Bitcoin operates, which could make the situation worse. Assuming your coins are all in one place or your private keys are easily accessible might make you an easy target. If you’re unable to hand over your coins and they don’t believe you, things could escalate rapidly.

I am not suggesting complete secrecy regarding Bitcoin, as discussions about it can be beneficial. I have considered how to reduce the risk of these situations happening to me as a public figure in this domain. Protecting your Bitcoin is crucial, as is ensuring your personal safety. As an American, I have the right to bear arms for added security against potential threats.

If you own a full bitcoin and wish to celebrate, do so privately with trusted individuals. You can share anonymously on X or Reddit for a more in-depth discussion or acknowledgment of your achievement. Avoid disclosing the amount of bitcoin you own and refrain from wearing attire that reveals this information. Stay modest and focus on acquiring more bitcoin.
